Are you wondering whether there are other treatment options for your cancer? Whether modern therapies are available that could be effective in your case? Or perhaps you would like to find out where clinical trials you could take part in are being conducted?
At Old Town Clinic in Wroclaw, we offer oncology patients advanced genetic testing of their tumors, which can help in the search for individually tailored treatment.
Why have your tumor genetically tested?
Every cancer is different. Even in patients with the same diagnosis, the disease may have a different molecular background and respond differently to treatment.
Modern genetic testing using next-generation sequencing (NGS) allows us to understand the molecular characteristics of a tumor in more detail.
The test results can help to:
- identify genetic alterations that may be relevant to the choice of treatment,
- assess potential options for targeted therapy and immunotherapy,
- search for clinical trials of new drugs for which the patient may qualify based on the tumor’s molecular profile,
- obtain additional information to support further treatment decisions.
Do you have a paraffin block? That may be the first step.
Many molecular tests can be performed on tumor tissue preserved during a previous biopsy or surgery. Collecting new material is not always necessary.
If you have a paraffin block containing tumor tissue, please contact Old Town Clinic. During the consultation, we will review your medical records, assess whether the test is advisable, and check whether the available material can be used.
Where to look for clinical trials?
Oncology is developing extremely rapidly. New drugs and treatment strategies are constantly being evaluated in clinical trials in Poland and around the world.
A molecular profiling result can be an important pointer when searching for clinical trials suitable for a given patient. However, final eligibility also depends on many other medical criteria.
Invest in knowledge about your disease
It is worth investing in your health, and above all in knowledge that can help you make informed decisions about your treatment.
Not every genetic test leads to a new therapy. In certain situations, however, it can provide valuable information and point to options worth discussing with your treating physician.
Old Town Clinic – modern molecular diagnostics in the service of personalized medicine.
Book an oncology consultation and find out whether tumor genetic testing could help in your case.
Molecular testing complements oncological diagnostics. Its results do not guarantee that an effective therapy will be found or that the patient will qualify for a clinical trial. Treatment decisions are made individually by the physician based on all available clinical data.
